Support the MLK, Jr. Day Donation Drive at Pease Park

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Pease Park Conservancy is hosting its 4th annual MLK Day Donation Drive to help alleviate food insecurity and fulfill basic needs. The MLK Day Drive also offers an important opportunity for local school groups and community members to organize and donate their time through volunteerism toward a shared cause.

Community members can support the drive by bringing donations to the picnic tables in Kingsbury Commons at Pease Park (1100 Kingsbury Street) on Monday, January 20th, between 12pm and 5pm. Most needed items include peanut butter, canned chicken breast or tuna, canned low-sodium vegetables, fruits in its juice, dry pinto beans, brown rice, dry pasta, nonfat dry milk powder, 100% whole grain cereal, tomato sauce, canned tomatoes, and canned entrees. All food items will be weighed and donated to a local food bank. Period products and diapers will be accepted and donated to the Austin Diaper Bank.

Feeding Texas shares that one in six households in Texas are food insecure. Let’s come together on this important day of service to help our neighbors and to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy.
