August Updates from Out on the Site!

The latest update out on the site is in! The Kingsbury Commons project is now over a quarter complete and the whole project -- soup to nuts -- is now over 35% complete! We are making some serious progress out in the park and getting more excited about what this project will mean to Austin and our community once it is finished.

The Treehouse, designed by Mell Lawrence Architects, is the biggest visual change out on the project right now. In about a week, the nine footings that the treehouse sphere will rest on will be poured. Following that, the trusses, which make up the exterior skeleton of the treehouse will be installed, meaning that the sphere will have fully taken shape! This process will likely take through the month of September.

In other news, the mechanical room foundation slab is getting poured this week and as soon as that is complete the vertical walls will start going up! We are waiting on some steel to be delivered which are necessary for next steps for the bathrooms and the mechanical room.

In the next week or so, we will begin the installation of the wastewater and stormwater utility lines. This process should take about ten days and then we will have finished the underground utility structures.

As we all know, we have so many beautiful trees out on the site, which we are extremely careful to take care of during this process. To ensure that the trees are in good shape, we will be bringing out eighty tree watering bags. We will all be enjoying the shade from these beauties at this time next year!

Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, feel free to reach out to Casey@peasepark.org with any questions you may have.
