Kingsbury Commons is 17% Complete!
We are making great progress out on the construction site and we have hit 17% of completion on the construction phase of the project. Even this initial progress has transformed the lower 7 acres of Pease Park and we are starting to be able to visualize how it will come together once it is fully complete.
Here’s what has changed since our last update:
The Tudor Cottage has gone through further internal excavation. The windows and window frames have been fully removed.
Utility work is progressing for electrical, storm water and waste water.
The water feature pipes have been fully laid, so there is now a connection between the feature’s reservoir and the mechanical room.
The bathroom is getting it’s slab foundation, and next up is pouring the foundation for the mechanical room. This means we are steps closer to going vertical!
There are new sidewalks that will connect to the trail and we have finished the grading necessary to make that happen, as well as grading and leveling needed for the basketball court.
The terrace has been fully graded and the next step is creating the walls that will surround the terrace.
Nearly one fifth of the way complete and you can see just how much has been accomplished. Every time we go by to do a site tour, we walk away totally enthused about the future of this project and just how special this space will be for Austin.
Don’t forget, this wouldn’t be possible without generous funding from the Moody Foundation, Lynne Dobson & Greg Wooldridge and Libby & Dale Linebarger. They have all helped fund huge portions of our $15 million dollar capital campaign. We have just about $1 million left to go, so if you find yourself inspired by this work, please consider supporting our work through a financial donation!
